That's about 29 potential customers a month who call and don't reach you.
Your phones are in decent shape. The next leak is usually follow-up speed. Try the Speed-to-Lead Calculator.
That adds up. An AI voice agent or a missed-call text-back could recover a meaningful share of it.
This is likely one of your biggest leaks, and it's worth fixing first.

Start with #1: in your numbers, unanswered calls are the biggest lever.
Start with #4: your booking rate is below the Invoca 2026 home-services benchmark of 45%.
Start with #2: a fast text-back raises the share of missed callers you win back.
Answer every call, even at 2 a.m.
An AI voice agent and missed-call text-back pick up when your team can't, so the next caller talks to you instead of a competitor.

Quick answer
Multiply your weekly calls by your missed-call rate, the share of callers who are real leads and the share of leads you'd normally book. Subtract the callers you win back, then multiply by your average job value and 52 weeks. That's your revenue at risk each year.
Enter your calls per week and your average job value.
Set your missed-call rate, or tap a benchmark chip from Invoca or CallRail.
Adjust the lead rate, booking rate and win-back rate if you know yours.

This calculator estimates the revenue at risk when calls go unanswered. It follows each missed call down a simple funnel: was it a real lead, would you normally have booked it, and what is that job worth?
The defaults come from published call data, and you can replace every one. In Invoca's July 2026 home services benchmark, a person answered 52% of all inbound calls and 65% of calls longer than 15 seconds. Of answered calls, 38% were leads, and 45% of those leads converted on the call. Our default missed-call rate of 35% is the share of 15-second-plus calls a person didn't answer in that study.
CallRail's January 2025 small business report measured lower missed-call rates in some industries: 14% for home services and 28% for legal. The two studies define a missed call differently, so we show both as benchmark chips you can tap. The default job value is an example, not a benchmark. Use your own first-job revenue, not lifetime value.
Treat the result as an upper-end estimate to guide a decision, not a forecast.
The fixes are usually simple: answer every call with an AI voice agent or live answering, send an automatic text-back seconds after a missed call, and route urgent calls straight to a person. Your full Butter Report compares an AI-answered scenario with today and shows what it would cost in ads to replace the lost leads, using LocaliQ cost-per-lead benchmarks.

Any inbound call a person doesn't answer, including calls that go to voicemail, ring out or hang up while on hold. Count after-hours calls too, because those are often the ones nobody answers.
From Invoca's July 2026 home services benchmark: a person answered 52% of all calls and 65% of calls over 15 seconds, 38% of answered calls were leads and 45% of leads converted on the call. CallRail's 2025 report is offered as an alternative missed-call rate.
No. It's an estimate from the numbers you enter. It assumes missed callers who never reach you buy elsewhere, and some will call back, so treat it as an upper-end estimate.
Check your phone system or call-tracking log for unanswered and abandoned calls over the last month. If you can't see it, that's a sign worth fixing: call tracking makes this number visible.
Answer every call with an AI voice agent or live answering, send an automatic text-back seconds after a missed call, and route urgent calls to a person. Most businesses use a mix: people during the day, automation after hours and during rushes.
To keep the estimate conservative. A customer who comes back is worth more, and the Lead Value Calculator shows lifetime value if you want the bigger picture.
