USPS lists EDDM Retail postage at $0.26 per piece. Printing, design and mail preparation are added on top and depend on the size, paper, quantity and finish you choose. Check usps.com for the current rate before you mail, because USPS adjusts prices periodically, and get a quote for the printed piece before you set your budget.
No. EDDM skips the mailing list entirely. You choose USPS carrier routes, and your piece goes to every address on those routes, addressed to "Postal Customer." That makes EDDM simple for neighborhood saturation. If you need to reach specific people, such as homeowners with pools, a targeted mailing list is usually the better fit.
EDDM Retail requires at least 200 pieces and allows up to 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day. EDDM BMEU has no volume limit and can cover multiple ZIP Codes in one mailing, but it requires a bulk mailing permit and a Business Customer Gateway account, and you drop the mail at a larger processing center.
No. A standard 4 x 6 postcard is a letter-size piece, and EDDM requires flats. Common EDDM sizes include 6.25 x 9, 6.5 x 9 and 8.5 x 11 inches. Flats can be no larger than 12 x 15 inches, and EDDM Retail pricing covers pieces up to 3.3 ounces. Check your size in the USPS Mailpiece Size Checker before printing.
